Buy Like Buffett Stock Picking Contest

Buy Like Buffett will be starting a monthly stock picking contest. Every month during 2011, the person whose stock performs the best will win a prize. This is the first month I am doing this so I am still working out all of the kinks. I was racking my brain to decide on what the first prize would be. This month’s prize is $50 cash. Next month it could be cash or a gift card. It could be financial software or maybe some books. I am still brainstorming the prize part. Let me know what you think. If you have a good idea for a monthly prize, let me know.

Here are the details.

The contest will start Monday, January 3rd, 2011. You can register to enter starting today, December 24th. The last day to register is Friday, December 31st. All entries must be in by December 31st.

This contest is to see who can pick the stock that performs the best doing the month of January.
Every contestant is allowed to pick 1 stock and 1 stock only.
Every contestant has to hold onto this stock throughout the entire month of January. (No buying and selling.)
The contestant whose stock rises the highest percentage over the next month wins.
No penny stocks or micro cap stocks. The stock needs to have a value of at least $10 per share and a market cap greater than $100 million dollars.
The winner of the contest will receive a $50 cash prize. (You will need a Paypal account to accept payment)

The contest will be run through Updown.com. You will need to create a username and password. They will then receive access to the Buy Like Buffett stock picking contest. Every contestant will receive $1 million dollars in a virtual trading account that will be used to buy one stock. The entire contest is FREE. That’s right. It costs you nothing.
