This coming Monday should turn out to be one of the most interesting opening bell’s as of late. A Lot of buyout rumours, Q10s being reported and amongst other things, we should get a more clear picture as to the progression of the US banking system.
Some of the companies I will be keeping a keen eye on:
SAY (Satyam Computer Services(ADR) – Full of scandals and allegations, this company may prove to be one of the cheapest discount assets to purchase within 2008. Over the weekend and into Monday, it is expected that several billionaire companies will be engaged in a bid to buy 51% of SAT, highest PPS wins. Satyam, one of India’s six largest IT outsourcing companies, counts such Fortune 500 companies as Sony among its customers.
Reason for their misfortune? Overstating balance sheets, which is something I am sure a lot more companies are doing yet get away with. Founder and Chairman, Raju noted in his letter that Satyam’s balance sheet for the quarter ending September 30 includes inflated cash and bank balances of 50.4 billion rupees ($1.04 billion), nonexistent accrued interest of 3.76 billion rupees, an understated liability of 12.3 billion rupees due to funds arranged by the chairman, and an overstated debtors position of 4.9 billion rupees.
And during the September quarter, the company also reported inflated revenue of 27 billion rupees, vs. actual revenue generation of 21.1 billion rupees. That resulted in artificial operating margins of 24 percent of revenue, compared with its actual 3 percent margin.
SPSN (Spansion Inc.) – A once thriving semiconductor device company engaged in designing, developing, manufacturing, marketing and selling Flash memory solutions — Has been the rumour of subjects and debates for far too long. At a fraction of their potential worth, Spansion looks to be a promising ( won $70 million dollar legal battle with Samsung ) company within the near future. With Micron raising $450M for a potential buyout candidate, a lot of people are speculating it will be Spansion. If this goes through, we could be looking at a potential rise in PPS for Spansion around the range of $0.50 – $2.
SPNG (Spongetech Delivery Systems, Inc.) – With sales growth of 10,141.80% over the past year, yes your eyes are not deceiving you, this company looks to be a sure winner with its Q10 expected April 15/2009. Look for this stock’s demand to jump sky high once the official numbers are out.
C, BAC, AIG, WFC – The major banks reporting their Q10, this month will go one of two ways: 1) Either Obama’s new promise shows a bright future outlook for America’s troubled monetary system, or 2) Pre-earning’s outlooks given by WFC was a fake distraction of the ongoing problems due to mounting credit and toxic assets.
One thing’s for sure, this week along with the rest of the month will promise to be one of the most entertaining for investors alike worldwide.
