Here is this weeks favorite longs list.

Vivus (VVUS) – Thanks to MarketFinancial for the heads up here. Chart received some significant bullish volume and shorts are being squeezed late Tuesday so, I will ride this chart as long as we can. MarketFinancial Article

Kodiak Oil (KOG) – Stock offering and oil weakness today did nothing to stop this oil stock as it continues to create new 52-week highs. Expecting some more weakness in crude prices but, so far it has done nothing to stop KOG so I will have to continue to pay up to add to my position. With the bullish momentum and very strong A/D line, that’s not a bad situation to be in.

Sunesis Pharmaceuticals (SNSS) – Expected drug trial news this month and the chart is starting to show some bullish movement. Is this the movement before the news? Key resistance at $.45 and will look to add if it can break past that resistance on good volume.

Gastar Exploration (GST) – Unlike KOG, this stock offering for a speculative natural gas play has seen a massive selloff. The stock offering was just priced at $4, which is below the current PPS. This selloff is not concerning in the least bit as I am very bullish on the natural gas sector and GST should see $5 again but, it could be a few weeks of volatility and a new accumulation phase before this ramps back up. GST is a perfect reason why you should trade around a core position with stop losses. Many surely lost all their large profits in this stock by not managing risk correctly. Take this as a lesson learned so you don’t make the same mistake again. Watch for a bottom to form before jumping in too aggressively. It is always safer to buy on the way up than to try and call a bottom.

Rentech Inc. (RTK) – This is a BioEnergy stock with a bullish breakout today. The level 2 quotes today showed very strong bids in comparison to the ask, indicating someone might be trying accumulate heavy without pushing up the price too far just yet. Earnings are next week and I am unlikely to gamble anything but profits into earnings. That is still a week away though so, lets focus on tomorrow. Look for resistance around today’s high of $1.31 and if it can break past that resistance with some good volume, I’ll look to add to my position.

Verde Media (VMGI.PK) – I did not have any intention of putting a Pinksheet stock on the list due to the higher risk involved with these types of stocks however, the bullish momentum late afternoon was too strong to ignore. VMGI is working on a reality show called Cowboy Mining and the rumor is the show is being wrapped up before they announce what television station it will be on. Take that with a grain of salt but, the charts strong A/D line shows many others are believers.
